Business
Services, Not Elsewhere Classified (SIC# 7389)
G&A is often engaged by our small business clients or joint venture
affiliates to provide a variety of consulting services listed under
this SIC code, i.e. business brokerage, inventory computing, liquidation
of merchandise, pre-sorting mail service, telemarketing, telephone
answering, and translation services. For example, we have assisted
several of our clients with the sale of their businesses. Our assistance
included business valuation, tax planning, brokering and negotiations.
As part of our accounting and auditing practice, we often inventory
client materials, supplies and finished goods.
We also completed a $200,000 inventory project for the golf course/resort
community development subsidiary of a failed financial institution
in Louisiana. That project involved counting and labeling over 200,000
items at resort communities, golf courses, hotels, office buildings,
maintenance facilities, and other structures in California, Florida,
Oklahoma, Louisiana, and South Carolina.
As a Partner with a national CPA firm, John Allen was the Liquidator-in-Charge
of six RTC receiverships with assets in excess of $500 million. In
this capacity, he was directly responsible for overseeing the sale
of owned real estate, loans, securities, furniture, fixtures, and
equipment, and other miscellaneous assets. Through our Jaynes Reitmeier
+ Grijalva joint venture, G&A was involved in the liquidation of millions
of dollars of RTC assets in Atlanta and Dallas. In Atlanta, JR+G had
a contract with the RTC from 1994 to 1996 to help them manage and
liquidate assets from over 250 failed thrifts. JR+G had a similar
three year contract with the RTC in Dallas.
G&A houses two of its joint venture partners in its Houston office.
As their landlord, we routinely answer their phones, pre-sort and
distribute their mail, and provide secretarial and other administrative
support. We also support a 1-800 number which temporaries can call
to ask questions regarding firm policy. We have provided similar support
to the RTC as site managers of closed institutions.
Over 75% of our core staff is bilingual and capable of translating
documents or serving as an interpreter. For instance, Tony Grijalva
is a native of Ecuador and fluent in both English and Spanish. He
has extensive experience translating documents, including financial
statements and their accompanying notes, from English to Spanish and
visa versa. He has been involved in several trade missions to Mexico
and South America and has provided both translation and interpretation.
Four other members of our Houston staff and all of our Corpus Christi
and Laredo employees are also fluent in Spanish. In addition to Spanish,
other members of our staff speak Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and Portugese.
